Only the workspace Owner can delete a workspace. Deleting doesn’t erase anything straight away: the workspace is locked for 30 days, and the Owner can restore it, unchanged, at any point in that window. After 30 days it is permanently deleted.

How to delete a workspace

1

Go to Settings > Workspace

Make sure the workspace you want to delete is the one you’re in.
2

Click Delete workspace

The card is near the bottom of the page. Admins and Members see the button dimmed, with the name of the Owner who can delete the workspace.
3

Type the workspace's name to confirm

Type it exactly as shown, then click Delete workspace.
You’re moved to another workspace you belong to, and a confirmation shows the date the workspace will be permanently deleted. If it’s your only workspace, Bower asks you to name a new one first. The new workspace is created before the old one is deleted, so you’re never left without a workspace.

What happens straight away

  • Everyone loses access, including you. The workspace disappears from every member’s workspace menu, and nothing in it can be opened, searched, or shared.
  • Members are moved on. A member who belongs to another workspace is switched to it. A member for whom this was the only workspace sees a message explaining how to get back in: ask the Owner of another workspace for an invitation, or email [email protected] and we’ll set up a new workspace for them.
  • Public share links stop working, and pending invitations to the workspace can no longer be accepted.
  • Nothing is erased yet. Notes, files, collections, protocols, and members all stay exactly as they were.

Restore a workspace

Until the deletion date, the Owner can bring the workspace back:
1

Go to Settings > Workspace

Workspaces you’ve deleted are listed under Scheduled for deletion, each with the date it will be permanently deleted.
2

Click Restore

The workspace comes back unchanged, and every member has access again. Switch to it from the workspace menu.
Once the deletion date has passed, the workspace can’t be restored.

What’s permanently deleted after 30 days

Everything in the workspace: notes, attachments and other files, collections, protocols, spreadsheets, memberships, conversations with Bower, and imports from connected apps. A record that the workspace existed and was deleted is kept, along with who did what and when, for compliance. It doesn’t keep the content of your notes, file names, or titles.

Billing

  • If the workspace has a paid plan, it stops renewing when you delete the workspace. It stays paid until the end of the current period.
  • Restoring the workspace turns renewal back on, unless you had already canceled the plan yourself before deleting, in which case it stays canceled.
  • If a paid period runs past the deletion date, for example on an annual plan, the subscription ends when the workspace is permanently deleted. No further charges are made.
For anything about a specific invoice, email [email protected].

Deleting your account

A workspace that’s scheduled for deletion no longer counts as one you own, so it doesn’t stop you deleting your account. It’s still permanently deleted on its date, and nobody can restore it after your account is gone.
