You set up Bower Glasses once, in the Bower app on your phone. If you don’t have the app yet, see Bower on your phone.

Pair and set up

Turn the glasses on and put them in pairing mode, then open the Devices tab in the Bower app. Tap your glasses when they appear in the list. The first time you connect a pair, Bower walks you through setup:
1

Bluetooth

Pair the glasses with your phone. On Android, allow Bluetooth and Location when asked.
2

Wi-Fi

Tap Scan for networks, choose your network, and tap Join. The glasses need a network to capture, so you can’t skip this step.
3

Voice

Tap Enable voice commands to download the speech model, about 75 MB, once. Voice commands are recognized on your phone. You can skip this step and turn on Idle voice commands later in Profile → Settings → Communication.
4

Firmware

Bower checks for a glasses update and installs it. Keep the screen open until it finishes.
5

Name

Give the glasses a nickname if you like, tap Next, then tap Start Capturing.
After the first time, the glasses reconnect without repeating setup.

Hear Bower in your glasses on iPhone

iPhone connects the glasses’ speakers separately from the glasses themselves. Until you pair them once, Bower speaks from your phone. On the Devices tab, tap Glasses audio and follow the guide:
  1. Keep your glasses on and connected.
  2. Open the iPhone Settings app and tap Bluetooth.
  3. Under Other Devices, tap the name that starts with “Mentra Live”.
  4. Come back to the Bower app. The screen updates on its own.
If “Mentra Live” isn’t in the list, start a live session with your glasses and check again. When it’s working, the row reads On · Bower speaks through your glasses.

Choose a workspace

Hands-free captures save to the workspace selected on the Dashboard tab. Check it before you start, especially if you belong to more than one workspace.
