The Workspace visualizer is a map of your workspace. Every note, protocol, attachment, piece of equipment, collection, and person is a node, and every relationship between them is a line. It’s the view to use when you want to see the shape of a project rather than one item at a time. The Workspace visualizer was called the knowledge graph until October 2026. It’s the same page with a new name and a new place to open it.

Opening the Workspace visualizer

There are two ways in.
  • From the avatar menu. Click your avatar at the bottom of the left rail, then choose Workspace visualizer. It sits above Settings.
  • From an item. Choose Show in visualizer in a note, protocol, spreadsheet, attachment, or collection’s action menu, or in a collection’s options menu. The visualizer opens centered on that item. You’ll also find Show in visualizer at the foot of an item’s linked-items list.
You can also press Cmd+K (Mac) or Ctrl+K (Windows/Linux) and type visualizer. The command palette also finds it if you type graph, map, relationships, or connections.

What the visualizer shows

  • Nodes are the items in your workspace. Each type has its own icon.
  • Solid lines are explicit relationships: links you or a teammate made, and ones Bower records automatically, such as who created an item or which collection it’s in.
  • Dashed lines are relationships inferred by Bower’s AI. They’re suggestions, not confirmed links, and are drawn differently so you can tell them apart. This is the same convention as the link chips on a note.
The visualizer only shows what you’re allowed to read. Items you don’t have access to are left out before the graph reaches your browser, using the same permission checks as opening the item itself.

Exploring the graph

  • Click a node to select it. The rest of the graph dims to that node and the items directly connected to it.
  • Hover a node to see its title.
  • Click a line to see the relationship type and where it came from: a manual link, inferred, or recorded by Bower.
  • Search to move the view to a specific item.
  • Open an item with Open in the detail panel to go straight to it.

Filtering

The filter panel on the right narrows what’s drawn:
  • Node types: show or hide each type, for example only protocols, or everything except attachments. Each row shows how many there are.
  • Relationship source: show Explicit relationships, Inferred by AI ones, or both.
  • Relationship types: show or hide specific kinds of relationship.

2D and 3D

The visualizer draws in 2D by default. Choose 3D in the filter panel for a view that’s useful for getting a sense of the shape of a large workspace. On small screens, or with reduced motion turned on in your system settings, it stays in 2D, and hovering 3D explains why.

List view

Choose List at the top of the filter panel to see the same items as a table instead of a drawing. Each row shows the item’s title and type, and you can type in Filter… to narrow the list by title. Click a row to open the item. Choose Graph to go back. The list view is the text alternative to the graph. A screen reader can read every row, though rows open with a click and aren’t yet reachable by keyboard. For keyboard navigation, use each item’s linked-items list. See Accessibility for more.

Limits

The visualizer draws up to 5,000 items. In a larger workspace, it shows the 5,000 most-connected items, and the list view says so.
