When you capture a voice note, import a file, or let Bird create content, Bower generates a title automatically so you don’t have to stop and name things in the moment.

When titles are generated

Bower generates a title when:
  • You record a voice note — after transcription, Bower reads the content and generates a short, descriptive title.
  • You import a file — images, PDFs, documents, and audio files all get titles based on their extracted content.
  • You capture a photo — the extracted text is used to generate a relevant title.
  • Bird creates a note — Bird names its own notes based on what it was asked to do.
Title generation happens in the background after capture is complete. It never interrupts your workflow.

How titles are generated

Bower uses a lightweight AI model to generate titles that are:
  • 3-8 words — short enough to scan in a list
  • Topic-based — reflects the main subject of the content
  • Title case — consistent formatting across your workspace
For example, a voice note about alkalinity measurements might get the title “Alkalinity Readings Site B March” rather than “Voice Note 47” or “Untitled.”

Manually set titles are never overwritten

If you set a title yourself — either before or after capture — Bower will never overwrite it. AI title generation only runs when a note has no title at all. This means you can:
  • Set a title before recording and it will be preserved exactly as you wrote it.
  • Edit an AI-generated title and Bower will never replace your edit.
  • Leave it to Bower and come back to name things later if you prefer.
The rule is simple: if a title exists, Bower won’t touch it.
