When you run a protocol in Live, Bower can save the whole spoken conversation as a transcript note on the run: what you said and what Bower said. It works in the Bower app, in your phone’s browser, and on Bower Glasses through the Bower app.
Live run transcripts are rolling out gradually. If you don’t see the setting, it hasn’t reached your workspace yet.

How do I turn on Live run transcripts?

Transcripts are off by default. A workspace Admin or Owner turns them on for the whole workspace:
1

Go to Settings > Workspace

2

Turn on Live run transcripts

The setting reads “Save the spoken conversation of Live protocol runs as a transcript note on the run. Off by default.”
Members see the setting but can’t change it. See workspace roles.

When does saving start?

Once the protocol run starts. The sentence that asks Bower to start the run isn’t included.

How do I pause the transcript during a run?

Use the Transcript switch, which reads On or Off: Turning it off pauses saving from that moment. Lines said before the pause are kept, and the transcript shows Transcript paused for 4 min (with the actual length) where the gap is. Turn it back on to resume. Your choice lasts for that Live session. In the Bower app, a small document icon after the run clock shows that the transcript is being saved. It disappears while saving is paused.

Where do I find a run’s transcript?

On the run record, the Summary panel shows Transcript: View transcript. If the run has no transcript, the row reads Not saved, and its info tooltip explains that transcripts can be paused during a Live session or turned off for the workspace. The transcript is a note titled with the protocol, version and run, such as Buffer prep · Version 2 · Run 5 · Transcript. It appears in workspace search like any other note.

Does Bower change what I said?

After the run ends, Bower tidies your lines lightly: punctuation, capital letters, and filler words such as “um” and “uh”. It changes no other word, and never changes what Bower said. The original lines are always available: open the note’s menu and choose View original transcript.

Can I edit a transcript?

Yes, like any note. If you edit it while the run is still going, new lines from the run are added below your edits, and nothing you wrote is changed.

Is any extra audio recorded?

No. The transcript comes from the speech recognition Live already uses to understand you. No extra audio is recorded or stored for it.

Who can see a transcript?

Anyone who can see the note, under your workspace’s normal permissions. The spoken text is stored in the note only, not in the workspace’s activity history.
