What changed
All three privacy modes are available on every plan:- Workspace: everyone in the workspace can see it. Still the default.
- Only specific people: visible to the people you name, plus the workspace Owner.
- Just me: visible only to you. No Owner override.
Why
Deciding who can see a note is a safety property, not a premium feature. A researcher working alone on a Starter plan handling sensitive material needs it as much as a lab of twenty does, and gating it taught people that Bower’s default is “everyone in the workspace sees everything, and you can’t change that”.What hasn’t changed
- Workspace roles (Owner / Admin / Member / Viewer) remain a Team feature.
- Restricted mode and Bower’s HIPAA/BAA posture remain a Team feature.
- Workspace admins can still switch Just me off for their whole workspace where policy requires everything to be auditable by an Owner.
- Anything you had already marked private stays exactly as it was.
