Shipped 2026-03-16 · Workspace Lab work is rarely self-contained. A note references a protocol, which references a parent project, which has its own attachments. Until now, those relationships only existed in your head. Bower now lets you wire them up explicitly.

What’s new

Any artifact can be linked to any other:
  • A note can link to the protocol it followed and the collection it belongs to.
  • A protocol can link to the collections that use it and the notes that ran it.
  • A collection can link to its parent project and the protocols it contains.
  • An attachment can link to the note it was captured into and any collections it’s relevant to.
Links are bidirectional — if you link a note to a protocol, the protocol shows the note in its linked panel automatically.

Why this matters

Linked entities are the foundation of your workspace’s knowledge graph. They’re what lets Bird answer questions like “show me every experiment that ran the Western blot protocol” or “which notes reference this reagent.” The more you link, the smarter retrieval gets.
