# Bower remembers what you tell it

> Bower now learns lasting details from your chats and live sessions, brings them into new conversations, and keeps them private to you and to the workspace they came from.

A good lab partner does not need to be told twice that you block westerns in
BSA, or how your lab names its samples. Until now, you had to tell Bower again.
Something you mentioned in one conversation was gone by the next, unless you
had written it into your personal preferences yourself.

Starting today, Bower remembers what matters, for every Bower user.

## What's new

* **Bower learns as you work.** When you mention something lasting, such as
  your research focus, a method or reagent you prefer, or a lab convention,
  Bower saves it after the conversation pauses. You can also just ask:
  *"remember that I always block in 5% BSA."*
* **It works in chat and in live mode.** What you say out loud at the bench
  counts too, and Bower brings what it knows into a live session from the
  moment it starts.
* **New conversations pick up where you left off.** Bower starts each
  conversation with your most recent memories, and looks up older ones when a
  topic comes up.
* **You stay in control.** Open **Settings → Preferences → What Bower
  remembers** to see everything Bower has learned. Edit a memory that is
  slightly wrong and Bower uses your version from then on, or delete it and
  Bower forgets it permanently.

## Private by design

* **Only you can see your memories.** Other members of your workspace,
  including owners and admins, cannot see or edit them.
* **Memories stay in their workspace.** If you work in more than one
  workspace, a detail Bower learned in one is never used in another.
* **One-off details are not kept.** What happened during a single experiment
  or protocol run stays in that conversation.
* **Workspaces that handle protected health information (PHI) do not keep
  learned memories.** Personal preferences and workspace instructions still
  apply there.
* **Deleting your account or a workspace deletes its memories** along with it.

Bower learns in the background, so remembering never slows down a response.
A new memory can take a few minutes to appear in Settings.
