# Ask Bird to draw a diagram

> Describe a process, pathway, or cycle and Bird draws it as a real, editable diagram right in your note.

You can now ask Bird to **diagram** something in a note — *"draw the CRISPR workflow"*, *"sketch the assay steps as a flowchart"*, *"show the PCR cycle"* — and it adds a real, editable diagram right where you're working, not a flat picture.

## What's new

Ask Bird, in a note, to diagram a **process, pathway, cycle, mechanism, or comparison**. It reads the note for the entities involved and lays them out for you. The result is a **real diagram**, identical to one you'd draw by hand — click it to open the editor and move, relabel, recolour, or extend anything.

Nodes are **colour-coded by meaning** (proteins, complexes, inputs and outputs, critical steps, alternative pathways), with labelled arrows, grouped sections, and compartments. Bird picks one of three layouts — a top-down **flow**, side-by-side **columns**, or a **cycle** ring — and you can ask for a different one.

## How it works

Describe what you want in plain language while viewing a note. Bird writes a compact description of the diagram — the boxes, how they connect, and how they group — and Bower turns that into the drawing and drops it into the note. Because it's an ordinary diagram block, everything about it is yours to edit afterwards; Bird just gives you the first draft.

## Good to know

* Diagrams capture **relationships between labelled things**. For plotting **data** (yields, time-series), ask for a chart instead — Bird already does those.
* Bird draws into the **note you're viewing**, so ask it while a note is open.
* You can keep iterating: *"add a step after annealing"*, *"group the assembly parts"*, *"make it a cycle"* — or just edit the diagram directly.
