# Dictate your questions to Bird

> Voice dictation in the Bird Chat input — speak your prompt instead of typing it, especially handy on mobile.

Typing a long, detailed question to Bird from a phone is awkward. Now you
don't have to. The Bird Chat input has a microphone button — tap it, speak
your question, and Bower transcribes it directly into the input field.

## What's new

* **Tap-to-dictate** in the Bird Chat input on both desktop and mobile.
* **Live transcription** — the words appear in the input as you speak, so
  you can correct mid-sentence.
* **Edit before sending** — dictation populates the input field, not the
  send button. You always have a chance to read what Bower heard before
  Bird responds.

## Why this matters

The friction of typing on mobile is the main reason people don't ask Bird
the harder questions on the bus. Dictation removes it. The same speech
recognition that powers voice capture handles your prompts, so technical
vocabulary maps correctly.
