# Share an artifact via a public link

> Generate a read-only public link for any note, attachment, or collection — recipient doesn't need a Bower account.

Sometimes you need to send a note to someone outside your workspace — a
collaborator at another institution, a journal reviewer, a thesis advisor —
without setting up shared workspace access. Public share links cover that
case.

## What's new

* **Generate a public link** for any note, attachment, or collection.
  Recipients open the link in their browser; no Bower account needed.
* **Read-only by default** — the link grants view access only. The original
  owner keeps full control.
* **Revocable any time** — delete the link from the share dialog and the
  URL stops working immediately.
* **Annotation previews carry through** — public viewers see your inline
  annotations on images, not just the raw originals.

## Privacy

Public links are unlisted — they aren't indexed, listed, or discoverable
unless you share the URL. They include a long random token, so guessing one
isn't realistic. Treat the URL as the password.
