# Drop a folder, Bower handles it

> Batch import runs in the background via Cloud Tasks — upload dozens of files and keep working while Bower processes each one.

**Shipped 2026-03-13 · Capture**

Backfilling a workspace from years of files used to mean uploading one at a
time and waiting. Now you drag a folder in, close the dialog, and keep
working — Bower processes each file in the background.

## What's new

* **Drag and drop a folder** — or pick multiple files from the file picker.
  Spreadsheets, PDFs, images, documents, voice recordings: all handled.
* **Background processing** — extraction (OCR, transcription, parsing) runs
  on Cloud Tasks, so the import doesn't block your tab and won't time out on
  large batches.
* **Spreadsheet preview** — `.csv` and `.xlsx` files get a preview before
  import so you can confirm Bower has parsed them correctly.
* **Live progress** — completed artifacts appear in your workspace as they
  finish, and a notification surfaces the moment a file is ready to view.

## Why this matters

Most labs onboarding to Bower come with years of accumulated PDFs, photos,
and notes. Batch import makes that backlog tractable — drop a folder, walk
away, come back to a populated workspace.
