# "Project" is now "Collection"

> We've renamed Bower's grouping artifact from Project to Collection across the UI, URLs, and API.

We've renamed Bower's grouping artifact from **Project** to **Collection**.
The thing itself hasn't changed — same notes inside it, same protocols,
same sharing model — but the term is now consistent everywhere.

## What changed

* The label across the UI: sidebar, menus, breadcrumbs, action buttons.
* The URL pattern: `/projects/...` → `/collections/...`. Old URLs
  redirect, so any links you'd already shared still work.
* The API and MCP tools: `getProject` → `getCollection`, etc.
* A dedicated workspace artifacts page that surfaces every artifact in
  the workspace, not just collection-level summaries.

## Why this matters

"Project" is overloaded — it means a multi-year programme to one person, a
single experiment to another, and a folder to a third. "Collection" is
neutral: a group of related artifacts, scoped however you choose. The new
term plays better with how Bower's used in practice and matches the
mental model researchers actually reach for.
