# Capture hands-free

> Take photos, record video, and dictate voice memos from Bower Glasses with the button or your voice.

Bower Glasses capture without you touching your phone. Everything saves to the workspace selected on the **Dashboard** tab of the Bower app.

## With the button

| Press | What happens |
| - | - |
| **Press** | Takes a photo. |
| **Double-press** | Starts recording video. Press again to stop. |
| **Press and hold** | Starts a [live session](/bower-glasses/live-and-protocols) with Bower. Hold again to end it. |

During a live session, a press or double-press shows **Capture busy**. Say *"Take a snapshot"* or *"Start recording"* instead.

## With your voice

With **Idle voice commands** turned on and the Bower app open on your phone, say:

| Say | What happens |
| - | - |
| *"Take a photo"* | Takes a photo. |
| *"Start recording"* · *"Stop recording"* | Starts and stops a video. |
| *"Start voice memo"* · *"Stop microphone"* | Starts and stops an audio recording. |
| *"Go live"* | Starts a live session. |

You can also say *"Hey Bower"* and then ask a question. Bower answers out loud while the conversation runs in the background. To open the full live view, tap the expand icon on the Bower pill at the top of the screen. The conversation ends after 3 minutes without activity.

<Note>
  Voice commands only listen while the Bower app is open on your phone. During a live session, Bower's live agent handles everything you say instead.
</Note>

## Where captures go

* Photos, videos, and voice memos save to the workspace selected on the **Dashboard** tab. If none is selected, the app asks you to choose one first.
* A video saved through your phone can be up to 2 minutes long.
* Captures taken during a live session are grouped in a collection for that session. During a protocol run, they're also linked to the protocol.
* If your phone is offline, captures wait on the phone and upload once you reconnect.

## When there's no Wi-Fi

The glasses send photos and video over Wi-Fi. If there's no network nearby, turn on **Offline mode** on the **Devices** tab. Your glasses link directly to your phone, with no router or phone hotspot needed. Captures save to your phone and upload to Bower when you turn Offline mode off.
